Typical Tolerances and Surface Finishes
Normal as fired tolerances are ±.005" or ½% (whichever is greater) and closer tolerances of ±.0002" can be produced by diamond grinding, lapping or polishing. Surface finishes as fine as 2 microinches are also available by lapping and polishing procedures. Flatnesses to within 1 He lightbands are also obtainable.
